Visa & other requirements to travel to Turkey
Who needs a VISA to enter Turkey?
Visa requirements for Turkey depend on the traveler’s nationality.
-
Visa-Free Entry
- Citizens of many countries, including most EU nations, the UK, Japan, South Korea, and some Latin American countries, can enter Turkey visa-free for short stays (usually up to 90 days within a 180-day period).
-
e-Visa Required
- Travelers from countries like the U.S., Canada, Australia, and Mexico need to apply for an e-Visa online before traveling. The process is straightforward and can be completed via Turkey’s official e-Visa website.
-
Sticker Visa Required (Embassy Application)
- Some nationalities, such as citizens of India, Pakistan, and certain African and Middle Eastern countries, must apply for a sticker visa at a Turkish consulate or embassy before traveling.
-
Conditional e-Visa (With Supporting Documents)
- Some travelers (e.g., citizens of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Egypt) can obtain an e-Visa if they meet certain conditions, such as holding a valid visa or residence permit from Schengen countries, the U.S., UK, or Ireland.
Fees for e-Visas obtained via the e-Visa website (www.evisa.gov.tr) are lower than the fees for visas obtained upon arrival to Turkish airports. Information regarding visa fees can be found on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
You are kindly advised to have a travel document/passport valid for at least 6 months as from the date of your arrival in Turkey.
