16th SCN Int. Conference – Vancouver 2018

The SCN team would like to thank all of the members who came to Vancouver and for making the conference such an enjoyable and productive experience for us all. For those of you who were not able to get to the meeting, please let us take you through those highly interactive days in Canada

Before the conference was officially started, many of the members joined together for one of our pre-conference activities. A city tour to check out the beauty of the city of Vancouver or the golf tournament to try out their skills on Canadian greens.

It was then time for registration with the SCN team

The first more formal meet up was back at our magnificent and emblematic Fairmont Hotel with our “Welcome Cocktail”. Time to meet up with old friends and new faces.

The real work of the conference started on Wednesday morning with pointers of how we can “Network Further” as SCN moves into new markets. We opened the stage to our preferred partners, who introduced themselves to the network causing quite a stir amongst our members with their exciting new projects.

Screened and trusted companies for insurance, IT, air charters, web & RPA, and a consolidating platform. Some most interesting presentations from them for members to get more benefits from their membership –  as we have also from some of our new members with collaborative ideas flowing freely.

To make sure that all members get a chance to air their views, next on the agenda were the Break-Out groups. A choice of four areas of logistics speciality in focused conversations so that members can interact as a group. E-Commerce, Projects, 24/7 and LCL/Consolidations.

After lunch, it was onto our one-on-one meetings. Collaboration at close quarters between members so each can show his wares!

Then onto the evening. Our awards Banquet Cocktail Reception, complete with Canadian Mounties to keep everyone in order! Then onto the Awards Banquet complete of course with recognition of our sponsors, our distinguished members and our Members’ member chosen by you all.

Thursday started with a summary of the state of our members’ owned financial corporation, SecurityPlus! – all in excellent shape, as presented by Dave Lucia. We then went to a Panel Debate on how we are all progressing with IT developments with the help of partners and members to give a grass roots at the challenges

More new member and member presentations – we always like to give a voice to them – followed by a summary of the break out sessions (as members only go to one, we like to keep everyone up to date on the progress of other areas of the network.) Some great progress on collaboration with the different groups and our thanks to our spokespeople for allowing the conversation to be so constructive. The general session was drawn to a close with comments on choice for next year’s conference.

In the afternoon, more one-on one meetings to bring members together.

In the evening, a step out of our hotel and to a dinner in a nearby restaurant to get those chins wagging a bit more.

The Friday morning brought the conference to a final close with more of the popular one-on-one meeting.

And to finish the proceeding, a small group of us took advantage of the long trip to discover more of British Colombia by going over to Victoria for the weekend to search out whales and wind down after another great SCN conference. Our best yet?

The SCN TEAM certainly thinks so!
